Non penso ci sia grande differenza, sono due idiomi diversi per dire la stessa cosa. Anche l'inglese ha spesso più idiomi equivalenti nello stesso contesto :) La cosa importante è di capire la struttura delle frasi, quella è differente. Una volta che sai la struttura capirai che sono equivalenti nel significato. Per fortuna (by fortune) significa fortunately or thankfully. Un sinonimo di "per fortuna" è "fortunatamente". Per fortuna/fortunatamente non mi sono fatto niente! (double negation: non+niente!) Fortunately, I didn't harm myself! Meno male che (lit. less harm that) means good thing that oppure thank goodness that/for... Meno male che non mi sono fatto niente! Good thing/thank goodness that I didn't harm myself! beh di solito menomale si usa quando l'hai scampata da qualche cosa... ma indicano comunque la stessa cosa.

Menomale = Per fortuna, fortunatamente (esprime soddisfazione o sollievo): esempio: menomale che ce l'hai fatta!
