Im Süden und in Teilen des Nordens Deutschlands sowie in der Schweiz und in Österreich wird das R auch als stimmhafter alveolarer Vibrant (voiced alveolar trill) [r] gesprochen. Manchmal hört man auch einen stimmhaften uvularen Vibranten (voiced uvular trill) [R]. 标准德语中的R一般不是颤音，而是浊小舌擦音[ʁ]。德国南边和北边的一些地方以及瑞士和奥地利都发音一种浊齿龈颤音[r]。有时候也可以听到人们发音一种浊小舌颤音[R]。

Both are used, and both will be understood. It depends on the region and the speaker, people in the south of Germany are more likely to use the trilled r, and people in the north are more likely to use the uvular r (I guess that's what you mean by "small tongue trills").
