Hello Important and essential are quite similar and could be used interchangebly When it comes to the difference, important is straight forward as you would use it when you want to say that something is important or valuable however, with essential, it is more like vital or necessary I will give you an example You can say that something is important to you i.e. a car or present from someone special, but it is not essential or necessary...you can live without it but for example: It is important to eat healthy food to maintain our health, but it is essential to eat as it helps us to survive.
