What is the meaning of the word combination "throwback episode"? E.g.: The newest episode of The Big Bang Theory is somewhat of a throwback episode.

It means that the episode addressed a topic/plot that was already addressed in a previous episode. "throwback" means one that is suggestive of or suited to an earlier time or style. Example, "this dress is a throwback to the 1920s" meaning this dress was inspired by the fashion of the 1920s.
