Is asking a teacher about their job is rude or inappropriate? Let's say I had a lesson with a teacher. In the lesson, the teacher told me to ask her about her work. So, I asked her many questions like "Where do you work?" "Do you like your job?" "Do you work nearby or do you commute?" "How long have you worked there?" From my knowledge, these questions are common and cannot be rude by all mean. But it turned out that asking these questions were inappropriate and showed disrespectful to the teacher. The rest is the history. :) So, is any of these can be rude or inappropriate or too personal or show disrespectful?

People can be weird everywhere Ekk. But, if a person is going to teach their language to people from other cultures they should understand that sometimes there is a miscommunication or misunderstanding about what is or is not appropriate. There are plenty of teachers who will understand these little "faux pas" (faux pas = a deviation from social norms, an inappropriate comment or gesture).

As a teacher I can say that these questions would not offend me. Generally, such questions are very common in conversation. I would say that it is okay to use them. However, some people are very private. If a line of questions feels offensive to a person, they have the right to ask to change the subject.

I wonder what you mean by "the rest is history" (not "the history"). What were the consequences of your questions? You can only use "the rest is history" if we already understand or know what the result was. I think it strange that the teacher wanted you to ask questions about her work, then was offended because you asked questions. If any of the questions were "too close to the bone" (too personal), then it's still up to the teacher to politely decline answering.
