What means "I'll die trying" really?
At first, I know what this sentence means, that somebody is really fighting hard to get something for example to fulfill an important dream or step in his/her life, like "I'll die trying to find a job".
But seriously, is it just a saying or is it really meant, that I even would be ready to risk and give my life to try something? So if I would say it to an english speaker, would he/she await that I will be ready to give my life for my goal and even be ready to die in the attempt?
As always, thank you very much for your help.

No, the person usually wouldn't really die trying. But you never know, do you know? :-)

Thank you very much Margaret. :) So I see now, it also depends on the situation I use the sentence. :) Thank you. :)

Whether someone would take you literally depends on context. If you're talking about passing an exam, they know you're just using it as a figure of speech. But if you were talking about doing something dangerous, like climbing Everest without oxygen, then they might not expect to see you again! :-)
