The hotel has been built on the ____ of a lake.
A. boundary
B. front
C. edge
D. border
Note:
I thought about “edge,” but the edge of a lake doesn’t have a drop as in “edge of a swimming pool” or “edge of a table.” I have heard the word “waterfront,” so it looks like B is the answer. Is the answer B? If not, is there a way to reason out the best answer?
Here is another similar question I did wrong:
http://www.italki.com/question/203423Is it correct to say whenever I see a body of water, such as an ocean, a lake, pond, swimming pool, puddle, it would be safe to use "edge." When I am talking about territories or countries, it is almost always "boundary" or "border"?

Funnily enough the answer is edge.
Because edge doesn't necessarily imply that it has a "drop off".
It can simply mean the end of something, the outside of something.
As in, my paper has a dirty mark on the edge of it.
