Using 的 when linking adjectives
那个男的又高又大。 The sentence translates to, "That guy is both big and tall". I do not understand why the 的 is need in that sentence. Wouldn't it make sense just to say, "那个男又高又大。”
“那个男的”是“是那个男的的身体”的缩写,“又高又大“是形容man的身体,作为日常用语就是”男的“,
”那个男的“ is the abbreviation of "the man's body" not "the man",”又高又大“ describe the man's body, not the man,As a daily language,we say "男的" not ”男的身体“
,my english is very poor, can you understand me?

At there,男的 is a noun.If it were a adjective,it would add the others nouns to make up the phrases, for example:男的人。But we dont have this phrase.
男的 equals 男人,the 女的 do 女人 as well.男的 and 女的 is customed to using by spoken. It is a informal words.
BTW,"那个男又高又大“ is an ill sentence(incorrect sentence),we never use it.
