What's the structure of italian sentence? I found it's difficult to learn Italian and speak like a italian , because I cannot think like a italian to organize the sentences. I want to know the basic structure of Italian.The order of the predicate (subject) ,direct and indirect object , adverbial, attribute, complement ecce... the grammar book is too blabla ...lengthy and I'll appreciate it if you give me an example...such as a very long sentence which include all the sentence elements. You should give us an example ;) Write a sentence and we'll try to translate it into Italian! The "basis structure" is always: SOGGETTO + VERBO + OGGETTO (DIRETTO E INDIRETTO) + COMPLEMENTI. The other elements, the "COMPLEMENTI" can be actually randomly used in a sentence, but they are usually after the object. In case you can add a "COMPLEMENTO" at the beginning of the sentence, before the subject (generally of time or cause). Lucia ha dato un regalo a Marta ieri. SOGGETTO VERBO OGGETTO DIR. OGGETTO INDIR. COMPL. DI TEMPO "Ieri ho dato un regalo a Marta" is also correct, because you can put a "COMPLEMENTO" before the subject. This is a quite difficult topic: if you're a beginner, you should start recognizing the sentence structure instead of trying to use it when writing texts.

Adesso ti svelo perche` la tua domanda e` quasi impossibbile per la lingua italiana: La lingua italiana e` estremamente flessa, cioe` ha declinazioni e coniugazioni; inoltre ha molte, molte particelle del tipo 'parole vuote' (termine cinese), o 'function words' (termine inglese); questo rende difficile il suo studio, pero`, ci permette di: a) avere una liberta` enorme, quasi illimitata nell'ordine delle parole, mantenendo integro il significato; b) avere (seconosci BENE la lingua) maggiore facilita` nello scrivere poesie e canzoni, questo come diretta conseguenza del punto (a). Mi piacciono le sfide intellettuali, ma quello che tu ci chiedi (in circa 2000 caratteri) e` nella categoria dell'impossibile, forse ti ho detto i motivi.

A volte penso che l'esperienza di liberta` quasi illimitata che noi italiani viviamo nel formare la frase sia all'origine del nostro grande piacere nel fare trucchi di ogni genere e non adeguarsi alle regole. Il piacere della lingua e` condiviso da tutti, il secondo piacere di cui ti parlo solo da alcuni, e acluni fra questi ` hanno purtroppo anche occupato posti chiave (= ruoli molto importanti nelle decisioni politiche o di impresa).
