vocabulary is the key point of speaking, fully agrre. But better way to improve speaking is ... writing! In reading, you do not need to understand all words, you may just understand idea and jump to other sentance. In writing, you should inderstend all words, gramma rules, action of each word, etc And speaking in my opinion, is a kind of advance form of writing, where "you write sentance as you pronounce it", on the fly.

Yes, reading only improves and expands your vocabulary. You should speak as much as possible to improve your speaking.
