which fits best vs which best fits
As you can se from the title, it is a very simple question.
I run through this tiny doubt not long ago, I wrote a sentence which was corrected right away into "which best fits".but now, reading my textbook, I have read "which fits best"
What is the right position?
Thanks in advance.

All things being equal, the adverb should precede the word being modified. That's a rule. I mean, that's a guideline.

Well, cutting the fragments out of their context will certainly confuse you.
We use "which best fits X" when the object X is a space or requirement that needs filling.
We use "which fits best" when an object doesn't follow (check your example you gave Anne). You can put a personal pronoun in this fragment (eg. which fits her best), but remember my previous comment about a space/requirement for "which best fits..."

Unfortunately like most things in English it depends on context more than grammar rules either are correct in different situations. Have you got a context /situation in mind?
