How would you say "what" and "what is that" in Korean?
Are there multiple ways to say these phrases?

What is that?
if that thing is closer to the listener: 그게 뭐예요?
if that thing is away both from speaker and listener: 저게 뭐예요?

What is 뭐 (mwo) and "What Is That?" is 뭐에요 (mwo-ye-yo). I think this is correct, though I am not a native speaker, so I could be wrong. I hope this helps though:)
