Are these sentences OK?
(I did the laundry)
some time later, if I say;
The laundry dried.
The laundry is dry.
(I painted the wall etc.)
some time later, if I say;
The paint dried.
The paint is dry.

If you're not mentioning a specific frame then it is better to say:
The laundry has dried.
&
The paint has dried.
but if you are mentioning a specific time frame then you can say:
The laundry dried, two hours ago.
&
The paint dried, yesterday.
