as a synonym for 'things', stuff has the same meaning, just more casual/informal. "You can put your things over there" - "you can put your stuff over there". However stuff is also a verb meaning to fill something up to capacity - he stuffed his wallet with a wad of notes. He stuffed his face (a colloquial expression meaning he consumed a large quantity of food in an inelegant manner).

stuff = things = coisas . Mas você pode usar "stuff" tipo um verbo tambem. "I stuffed my wallet with money"

within the coisas meaning of "things" and "stuff", stuff is never singular, whereas things can be singular. (What is that thing over there?, but not "what is that stuff (singular) over there?)
