抱怨 means you are filled with resentment and you belamed someone. 埋怨 means you are bear it but you still filled with resentment 牢骚 means you are in a bad mood so you find someone and pour out your bothering 投诉 means complain somebody, e.g. I complained to the headmaster about the teacher, because he hit a student. 告状 it seems equal to 投诉，but when you complained someone to the courtroom, it means 告状，not 投诉 忠告 it means suggest, or advice

1) 抱怨和埋怨 is quite similar as a noun, but different as verb, we ll say, 别埋怨我 it means, dont make complain on me, but we wont say 别抱怨我，we usually say, 别对我抱怨这些，dont complain about it to me. 2) 牢骚 is noun, it's deep dgree complaint. 3）投诉&告状 noun&verb, when you think you are treated without justice or someone damage your right and interest, you go to superordinate to ask for help. difference is 告状can be sneak/snith, it's not good behavir. 4) 忠告 means advice, suggestions, it's with good intention. ****投诉is not cantonese. You want to say: 顾客投诉餐食。 他投诉老师or他对老师有意见。 他牢骚满腹（I translate this to a idiom, we often say it) 我不想抱怨or我不想埋怨，但是这太糟糕了。

Sometimes they are interchangeable, so we need more context to distinguish them. - The customer complains about the food. 顾客抱怨/埋怨食物（不好吃）。 - He complains about the teacher. 他抱怨老师（不好）。 - He complains a lot (that is what his personality is like). 他很爱抱怨/发牢骚。 - I don't want to complain, but.... it sucks. 我也不想抱怨/发牢骚，但是……它烂透了。 We do say 投诉 in Mandarin, but it means more like "to file a complaint", you know, in a formal way. It's also true of 告状, but 告状 sounds a bit childish. 发牢骚 sounds more personal, and it's like you're expressing your dissatisfaction to someone relatively close to you; if they're not close enough, they may not feel like listening to your 牢骚, which can be annoying.
