How could I say this in spanish using only preterite and imperfect verbs?
I started to feel bad on monday. I feel hot, and I have a fever. I had a headache, and a cough. (use the verb dolor). I went to the doctor. the doctor took my temperature. He said I had a cold. He gave me medicine for my cough. I took medicine, and had a lot of sleep to get better(Use imperfect verb in this sentence if possible.)

So I am having problems knowing when to use the preterite and imperfect tenses. of course sentences above like "fui a el doctor." are much more simple. thank in advance guys!
