OK, all good. These are collocations, which means although one answer might be understandable, it may be incorrect because we simply don't use that word in that phrase.
Only your answer to 1 is correct ("It does 40 miles to the gallon"). If you take some time to research the phrases in the sentence, you'll find the answers quite easily. Sorry, I don't see any value in simply "spoon-feeding" you the answers. Ultimately, it doesn't help you as a student.
