how far off is the new world?
What does "how far off is the new world"mean? Why not "how far is the new world?" Why add an "off"?Is there any difference?

Hello Patricia,
I think that the use of 'far off' here is being used to denote time rather than distance. So in simpler words 'How long until the New World is here?'
