Is it a "fairly common way to speak"? Yes, it is. Sprechen in Bayern viele Leute so? Ja. Does she overdo her accent? Hard to say, I don't know her personally. Most Bavarians are able to speak a version of "Hochdeutsch" if they want to, but they tend to do that only with people they dislike. Übertreibt sie ihren Dialekt? Schwer zu sagen, da ich sie nicht persönlich kenne. Die meisten Bayern sind in der Lage, eine Form von Hochdeutsch zu sprechen, wenn sie es wollen. Aber sie neigen dazu, das nur gegenüber Leuten zu tun, die sie nicht mögen. "bischt" is not part of the Bavarian dialect, that's Swabian (Schwäbisch). Try not to confuse the two within the hearing of Bavarians as it might be detrimental to your physical well-being. "bischt" ist kein Bayerisch, das ist Schwäbisch. Can't answer the question of how Bavarian German is regarded by the rest of us as a) I was born in Bavaria myself, so for me this simply sounds like home and b) it's probably a matter of individual preference, anyway. I was once told by a linguist that Bavaria and the Rhineland were the only regions in Germany where your social standing actually increased with your ability to speak the dialect (rather than with its absence). However, that was almost 25 years ago, so that might have changed in the meantime. Die Frage, wie andere Deutsche Bayerisch wahrnehmen kann ich nicht beantworten, da ich erstens selbst aus Bayern stamme (daher klingt es für mich einfach nach Heimat) und zweitens ist es wahrscheinlich sowieso Geschmackssache. Eine Linguistin hat mir mal erklärt, Bayern und das Rheinland seien die einzigen deutschen Regionen, in denen das gesellschaftliche Ansehen mit der Fähigkeit steige, den regionalen Dialekt zu sprechen (statt deshalb zu sinken). Das ist allerdings 25 Jahre her, es mag sich also inzwischen geändert haben.
