which one is correct? 'as was discussed' or 'as discussed'
I wrote 'as was discussed in Fig. 1' twice in my manuscript.
And I requested native speakers of English to proofread my manuscript.
Then, they pointed it out like following.
(1)As was discussed in Fig. 1, ~ -> As discussed in Fig. 1, ~
(2)~(as was discussed in Fig. 1). -> no change
Which one do you think is correct?
or Both of them are correct?

"Was discussed" uses the auxiliary verb "was" to situate the figure's content more specifically in time in the past. Using this type of construction in a manuscript is grammatically correct, but it would sound more formal if you were to use the simple past of the verb, "discussed." These are shades of difference and open to interpretation. In the end, it is probably more a matter of preference than anything.
