What does "tie the loose ends" mean in the news title ??
Hello I'm almost new here~ and needing some help :D
I saw this online news when I was searching for a phrase: "tie the loose ends" and its usage, I think it means to get something done, right? Then what does this phrase indicate in the title :
"Tying loose ends? Gravitational waves could solve string theory, study claims"
?
Does it mean the string theory is going to solve most the scientific problem of string theory??
I don't know whether this link will work or not, but it is reference..

Thanks!
To "tie up loose ends" in this context means that someone believes that gravitational waves could finally complete (the often argued about) string theory.
I think the phrase may be related to weaving. Once a cloth has been woven on a loom, the weaver must tie off the loose ends so that the cloth would not unravel.
