How do you say in Korean " I was written an essay " ?

Depending on what you want to say, you might go with one of these.
1. I wrote an essay / I have written an essay = (나는) 에세이를 (하나) 썼어요.
2. I was writing an essay = (나는) 에세이를 (하나) 쓰고 있었어요.
* 수필 (similar to 에세이) may be used in place of 에세이.

Hi, "I was written an essay" doesn't make grammatical sense.
Did you want to say "I wrote an essay" or "I was writing an essay"?
