what does 'pill' mean in"Big pill looming"?
The song called Flightless Bird
The whole context is:
I was a quick wet boy
Diving too deep for coins
All of your street light eyes
Wide on my plastic toys
And when the cops closed the fair
I cut my long baby hair
Stole me a dog-eared map
And called for you everywhere
Have I found you?
Flightless bird, jealous, weeping
Or lost you?
American mouth
Big pill looming
in the last sentence, what does 'pill' mean in"Big pill looming"?
and there's another big pill on the following:
Have I found you?
Flightless bird, grounded bleeding
Or lost you?
American mouth
Big pill, stuck going down

My interpretation is there is some very unpleasant truth that the author does not want to accept.
There are two phrases that are used in English:
"It sticks in my throat" - refers to some situation that is very unpleasant and hard to accept.
"A bitter pill to swallow" - refers to somewhat the same situation, except that here, it means that the situation must still be accepted, even if unpleasant.

I agree with fdmaxey, unless it's a specific slang term.
