Which one is correct? You are a trade etc. I owe you some money, and you want me to make a payment today. If you ask, Can you pay some money to your account today? Can you pay some money on your account today? You are a trader.

This depends a lot on context. It was slightly confusing as you used 'trade' rather than 'tradesperson'. I would disagree with both Damien and John. Although you definitely pay money 'to' an account at a bank, this is different. With your 'account' with a tradesperson, it is different. I would say that you pay an amount _on_ your account. You pay a tradesperson, they put the money into their bank account, and they take that payment off your account with them. The comment about 'could' is definitely true though.

I would say either... Could you make a payment toward your balance today? Or Could you make a payment on your account today? "Could" is definitely more polite.

Hello Sinem, We always pay money "to" an account in English, when putting money into the account. It is more polite to use "could" rather than "can". So: "Could you pay some money to your account today?"
