I feel Jura's answer was too cautious. Yes, the internet is full of scammers, but it is also full of real people. It is easy to discern who is fake and who is not, if you know how to find these things out. What one is more likely to find on the internet are people who are already in relationships, who will cheat on their significant other with you. It's awful but these people are either very unhappy in their life or they just want an ego boost. I've had a few online relationships. The most common problem is that I am more serious about the relationship than the other person. If you like them, you should take the leap. If it doesn't work out, you move on.

I would say the first thing you need to consider is what you expect from a relationship. If you are comfortable with yourself and feel you know the person and are interested in a relationship, then of course the next plan of action would be to meet them. Is this a possibility for either of you? If not, then I think maybe you are projecting feelings onto this person that may or may not be real. It is easy to turn someone into something they are not when you are not dealing with the day to day issues that come with a relationship. On the net, you are only dealing with that person, and not all of the other "baggage". I would say you should take a look at what you are expecting for your future.

I think anything is possible when we speak of 'Love'. It is you nonetheless to tell whether it is true or not. It'll take time to prove it. Once it comes to a point that both of you met personally and continue your feelings towards one another, that's the time you can say that 'Love' really exists. :)

Anything is possible besides we can know and live with people face to face for years and not know they are fake. It is about distance and expectations, similar plans for the future, similar paths and real love in a virtual world.
