I wanna know what 'How do you like them apples' means exactly and when can I use this expression.
Hi everyone, I have some questions for you guys :)!
I heard the expression 'How do you like them apples?' on TV shows several times,
but I was'nt able to understand what it means exactly every single time.
Could you teach me what it means and which circumstance can I use this expression?
An 'Oxford Idioms Dictionary for Learners of English' says it is
'used after telling somebody an unpleasant fact or truth, to say that they should accept it'.
...Is it...? than, Can I say "Learning new language is really difficult, How do you like them apples?" to other people when I want to say "It is a very hard work to learn a new language." in a different way?
Thank you for reading, have a good day :)

1. It is colloquial, generally used between people of same social level. You don't say it to your social superiors.
2. Example: You just got dropped to 2nd string on the soccer team. A teammate, who doesn't care for you, says to you: How do you like them apples?
3. I have never said this or had it said to me. I probably heard it on TV where the context and the intonation would help a native understand it the first time he heard it.

No - learning a language is hard work but its not necessarily unpleasant.
You could say:
I don't like you. How do you like them apples?
You can't have that. How do you like them apples?
To be honest while people know the expression well its very rarely used in everyday language.
