Toots
Hello!
I saw this explanation of the word 'toots' in Urban dictionary:
"Term of endearment roughly equivalent to baby.
Note: Only applicable if you live in a black and white movie."
What do they mean to live in a black and white movie? Is it an old-fashioned word? What is the word shade meaning: tender or ironic?
Thank you!

Yeah, it's old style.
Like 1940's american gangster era, commonly seen in black and white movies of that time.

Yes, that its an old-fashioned term. Thats a good definition, in fact. I would only expect to hear that in a 40s or 50s American film. As far as its nuances, I would say it feels a little more playful than other terms of endearment. Maybe arrogant or cocky even.
