bath in a crisp
Hi
Would you help me to understand this phrase?
Siberia is always billed as a place of hardship. But for hour after hour, the wintry wonderland was bathed in a crisp, clean sunshine, presenting a continuous panorama of conifer trees wreathed in silence and snow.
Thank you

HAHAHA! Bath in a crisp, that is hilarious! It actually means something quite different than the sentence you'd like to understand...
"Bathed in sunshine" means illuminated from all sides by sunlight.
"Crisp, clean sunshine" means very pure and sharp.
I suppose what made this confusing for you was the "crisp, clean" part. In English, instead of saying "this and that" with adjectives it's quite posh to say "this, that".
"Bath in a crisp" means soaking in fried potato. Hilarious, thank you :)

The word 'bathed' here means surrounded, saturated, completely full, enveloped. The word 'crisp' means very, very cold; so cold it can hurt your lungs to breathe. All together the meaning implies that though the winter is generally miserable, this particular winter day was very cold but the sunshine made it a beautiful day.
Other ways to use 'bathed':
The blanket bathed her in warmth.
As we swam, we were bathed by the cool ocean water.
I went to a mud bath last week and I was bathed from my neck to my toes in thick mud.
The students bathed their teacher with kind words of thanks when the class ended .
