Can I say "I went to movies" If I watched a movie..? . As Olivia says, "I went to the movies" means physically going somewhere to watch a movie, ie a movie theatre. There is a way to get the expression you used, but it is contrived. What did you do on the weekend? I went to movies the whole of Saturday, one after another. = I went to more than one movie.

We only say ‘I went to the movies’ if we physically went to the cinema to watch a movie. If you watched a movie at home you would not say this :)
