Hey John, as a native Farsi Speaker, it's an honor that you are going to learn Farsi. First of all you have to know that Farsi, unlike English is written right to left. The main structure to create sentences is : subject + object + verb. 
please try to learn as much as noun you can. to memorize the new vocabs, you can use Anki or any other flashcards.
when it comes to verb conjugation, you have to know that the verb changes based on the person. after learning persian alphabet. you can use online persian conjugator websites. 
The book "The Routledge Introductory Persian Course: Farsi Shirin Ast" is a good start.
