"Thank you." - "Sure."
I want to know how to say "Sure" in return for "Thank you" without sounding rude.
@Mark Kramer : I've seen some people said "Sure" when their friend said "Thank you" in sitcoms. So I wondered answering "Sure" to "Thank you" could be seen as rude since it seemed more friendly(less formal) somehow.
@Mark : Thank you for giving me an example. The example doesn't seem to fit in this context though... ;)
@Mark Kramer : Pahaha!
@romulus : Thank you so much! You understood my question as it really is ;)
@Marie : That's not rude at all, is it?

while "you're welcome" is the standard response for 'thank you', you can also say, "my pleasure" or "don't mention it" or "no problem" or just what you've mentioned - "sure".
there's nothing to be worry of being rude when saying "sure" in response, so long as you're saying it in a polite manner (i.e. a smile on your face, standard tone of your voice, friendly eye contact, etc.)

You could say "sure" in lieu of "thank you" in a situation where e.g. someone gives you something with an intention that you will accept the item.
friend1:Here, have this pen. friend2:sure.
There's no real need for a "thank you" and it is not viewed as rude. Sure means OK in this context.

The standard, polite response is simply: "You're welcome!"

In Australia, we often say 'no worries'. Sure would seem a bit dismissive.
