Do you believe in Serendipity?
Have you ever experienced something related with it? Share with all of us. Yes, Jura. I know the meaning because I am reading and learning new vocabulary. However I didn't know about Flemming, thanks for that. =)
Serendipity: (literary) when interesting or valuable discoveries are made by accident. ( Longman-Dictionary of Contemporary English)
Serendipity: (happy) chance, (happy) accident, fluke; luck, good luck, good fortune, fortuity, providence; happy coincidence. (Oxford- Paperback Thesaurus)
Serendipity is the effect by which one accidentally stumbles upon something fortunate, especially while looking for something entirely unrelated. The word has been voted as one of the ten English words that were hardest to translate in June 2004 by a British translation company. However, due to its sociological use, the word has been imported into many other languages.(Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serendipity). Interesting information here. Many cases of Serendipity like the one Jura mentioned.
Mythyy! Yes, you are right! I am not on MSN right now because I don't have my laptop. Hope to be online soon. =)

Hi Sonia, serendipity means an answer or great idea discovered entirely by accident ie "a happy accident" as it has come to be known.
For example Alexander Flemming went away on holiday and forgot to do the washing up before he left. When he came home he found the dishes covered in mould. That mould led him to discover Penicillin, a drug that saved millions of lives and is the foundation of modern antibiotics.
