There's a lot, but A LOT, to consider before saying is 'right' or 'wrong' (if you have the nerves to say it ) . Personally, I don't put labels on people's actions because everyone has a 'valid' reason to do whatever they're doing, even if their reasons are not ours... Non of us can judge someone else's life or way to proceed just like that, we would have to wear their shoes at least .. well... since the day they were born to TRY to look from their perspective =)

An evil action cannot be justified by reference to a good intention

The caliph Omer bi Al khatab said (if the poverty like a man I will kill him). Also he stopped the hand cutting punishment for who steals, this due to the difficult conditions which dominated in that time where no food and water. This mean that the starving people will do things over their control, but returning to your question is it okay? Absolutely no, I say no and you and all the people say no for stealing and even who is stealing say no for that, but the question must be what we did for starving members in our society and what we plan to do?

I think It is not a perspective problem..I know may businessmen,who create kingdoms from "ZERO"..There are many people working hard to earn more to feed their families but they are not stealing..this is "BLACK or WHITE" question and believe me you cant get a certain answer from here =)
