Taking it as seriously as you can. If you want to improve it, work on that. Cover all the skills, reading, writing, listening and speaking. Take courses here. Read books which are levelled, write italki pms to your contacts and let them know you'd like they check your mistakes. Everything depends on you. Motivation starts on ourselves.

i think the only way to do is keep the balance between learn & practice at the same time, knew a lot of vocabulary is useless if we can't use it.
