what's the meaning of "read and weep"&"cosmic stone"?
thank you for your explanation"read and weep" is from an email sent from my friend.He just sent me something to read ,but i dont understand why there is "weep"here.
"cosmic stone"is from a sentence "We are not alone, we shall argue, even within a cosmic stone's throw of our home world. "

"Read it and weep" is idiom for "Have a look at this, and be prepared to be unhappy."
"Stone's throw" is idiom for "not very far away," or about as far as you could throw a stone. Your sentence appears to be talking about different planets, so the writer uses a "cosmic stone's throw" to describe how near we are to our home world compared to the immensity of the cosmos.

"Read it and weep!" is often said when that person wants to gloat. For example, s/he received some good news, or got a higher mark in an exam than you. Good news to your friend, possibly bad news to you. This can be said in a friendly-teasing way.
