what's the difference between "sedang" and "tengah"?
As far as I know,
they both mean "in the middle of something" or "~ing" in English.

For example,

As for, "what are you doing?",
we can say, "awak sedang buat apa?" or "awak tengah buat apa?".

Both sentences are exactly the same?
or "sedang" is often used in a formal case??

It would be appreciated if you explain this.:)

"sedang" ..is something that we're doing..still do that thing.. eg, ibu sedang memasak = mother is cooking.."verb+ ing"... n d word "tengah" mean in the middle..or at centre..but in a daily speaking..sedang=tengah.. hv a same meaning.. but if we say," dia sedang tidur"..is soo formal..n unfrendly..hahaha better use..dia tengah tidur = he's sleeping.. .. is it clear?? ^^

I just wanted to flag up that 'awak' is also normally used for informal conversational purposes only. I would be quite rude to say awak in a formal setting or to someone older/unknown to you. This is especially true in written Bahasa Melayu - 'kamu' would be the preferred word to use. =)

both are the same :) generally, we use 'sedang' in essays,books etc.
'tengah' usually we use it in our daily life and it is a conversational language :D

tengah = 가운데, 두 것은 사이
sedang = 하고 있어요

거의 자이가 없는데 sedang은 시간 필요해는데 tengah는 장소나 행동은 필요해요..

awak sedang buat apa? = 뭐하고 있어요?
awak tengah buat apa? = 뭐 해요?
