Hi, just so you know, I am not a French native, but I will try and explain this. When you are using the word “anyway” to mean “besides/ in any case/ in any event”, you use de toute façon. Examples: Il ne veut pas sortir, et de toute façon il n’y est past autorisé. (He doesn’t want to go out, and anyway he’s not allowed.) De tout façon, je pensais te rejoindre. (Anyway, I was thinking I’d come meet you.) Et où as-tu trouvé cent livres de toute façon? (Where the heck did you get a hundred quid anyway?) When you are using “anyway” to mean “nevertheless/ all the same/ even so”, then you would use quand même. Example: Je n’aime pas vraiment les chapeaux, mais je vais quand même l’essayer. (I don’t really like hats, but I’ll try it on anyway.) "quand même" means 'nevertheless' "de toute façon" means ' in any case' Other senses of 'anyway' could be as following in French: - tout au moins: "She doesn't want to have children.Not right now, anyway." Elle ne veut pas avoir d'enfants. Tout au moins pas pour l'instant. - enfin , enfin bon : means 'anyway' when used to finish a conversation. - exactement , au juste : "What do you want from me anyway?" Qu'est-ce que vous me voulez au juste? Qu'est-ce que vous me voulez, exactement?

Quand même : Exprime l’opposition, la concession ; malgré tout, en tout cas. De tout façon : Veut dire de toute manière, Quoi qu'on fasse au quoi qu’il arrive…
