Hello guys! How are you doing?
I have a question about the verb 'buckle'. Let's see if I'm can pose it clearly.
According to the dictionary is a synonym for the phrasal verb 'give in'. When talking about news articles why would you choose 'buckle' over 'give up'? Is it more formal or 'a news verb'?
Thanks so much:)
Have a good one!!

Hi Oscar, the word Buckle when related to News is often accompanied by the word Up. Buckle Up is a popular term that basically requests some to Get Ready or Prepare Themselves for either some exciting or shocking News. It is in no way a formal way of speaking, but is rather a slang term. I'm not sure how the singular word Buckle implies "give in", but I hope this is helpful.
