In China, when taking photos, we will say "茄子(eggplant)" which is used to keep a smiling face. what about you?

In the UK we say "Cheese" ... but often we still don't actually smile :)
"Watch the birdie" used to be said, you still hear that in Holland & Portugal.
I wonder what was said pre- photography for portrait painters? Something longer & slower?

Well from where I’m coming from ( South Africa) we usually say “cheese” because while you say the name automatically you keep a smiling face 😄
