My name is Valentina Patiño Z, I have a degree in Modern Languages, a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics of Spanish as a Foreign Language and a nature photographer. I am 26 years old and I am Colombian. I consider myself a responsible, fun and dedicated person. I really like animals and in my free time I do wildlife rescue. I am also part of a shelter called Peluditos de Corazón in which we rehabilitate stray dogs and we find homes for them. I love to watch movies, listen to music and go for walks to places with natural surroundings. As a language teacher, I seek to focus on my student's needs so I can develop a teaching plan. I am a patient and understanding teacher, because I understand the difficulty of learning a new language since I was once a language learner. On the other hand, I am from Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, and the accent there is neutral. My rhythm of speech will allow you to understand me without difficulty. I am a teacher focused on vocabulary as I consider this to be the most important component in learning a language. I like to work through audiovisual material and environmental and cultural content. I also emphasize the ability of oral expression because expressing ourselves is sometimes a challenge. I like my students to work at their own pace and not feel pressured.

¡Otra gran lección con Valentina! Ella es una gran maestra y trabaja conmigo para brindar ayuda donde la necesito, siempre haciéndola divertida e interesante también. Para mí, eso es principalmente practicar la conversación y la comprensión auditiva y aprender nuevo vocabulario. Abril is a wonderful teacher and I always enjoy our conversations. It’s like talking to a friend, while learning along the way. Her English proficiency is high, so she’s able to easily translate words I don’t know. She lets me decide what to work on, and gives me homework when I’ve asked for it. Most of the time we just chat, to improve my conversation skills. She is kind, encouraging, competent, and reliable. I look forward to continuing to learn Spanish with Abril. ¡Muchísimas gracias!
