I am a resident neurosurgeon, passionate about - besides medicine - books, martial arts, nature, as well as learning AND teaching languages. I aspire to instill a vivid change in the way Lebanese Arabic is being taught to people, and I work on implementing this with my students here, as well as on other media - being a founder of The Glotting Factor page, and an upcoming author of learning materials that every passionate learner of Lebanese Arabic needs to have.

    I am not only a language tutor, but also a language learner. I've always been one, so long before having become a tutor! In light of this, there is always some new learning method to discover and savour (which I make sure to transfer to my students!). And today's discovery is using social media comments of people arguing and roasting each other to learn new words and conjugations in different contexts! My students! We can do the same with Arabic. With all pleasure!😂😂

    It is correct to say أَيْدِيًا if it isn't defined with ال or a genitive case إن أيدِيًا غريبةً قد امْتَدَّت إلى النقودِ كَبِّلوا أيْدِيَهم! أنتُم لا تُقدِّرون الأيديَ العاملةَ! يبقى تنوين الفتح في حالة النصب Hope this helps

    Hey Alex)) The original word is معلموي which is considered phonetically inappropriate (The encounter of the long vowel و and ياء المتكلم). The واو الجماعة is elated here to facilitate pronunciation. The و would be retained with other suffixed pronouns, given they aren't vowels: معلموه، معلموك، معلمونا،... Taking another word like مساعِدون helpers - My helpers = مُساعدِيَّ not مساعدوي Two long vowels cannot meet in words - The vowel letter themselves nonetheless ألف، واو، ياء can do so, as long as both of them have SHORT vowels (الكُوَيْت Kuwait - notice the diacritics) or one of them AT MOST is a long vowel (معلِّماي my two teachers, وَلدايَ my two sons, يحتَوي contains) Hope this helps!

    Buona giornata, Emma! I would translate the sentence as: يتم البدء بأكبر خصخصةٍ للنفط في التاريخ السعوديّ خصخصة النفط الكبرى means the privatisation is simply big, without an indication of being the biggest whatsoever. I hope this helps.

    يرسل البعض والديهم إلى بيوت إيواء العجزة لأنهم لا يعيشون في نفس المنطقة ولا يريدون لوالديهم التنقُّل لأن الكبار في سن يكرهون التغيير في عاداتهم. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، من الصعب الاعتناء بالوالدين عندما نعمل طيلة اليوم وعند غيابنا عن البيت لفترة طويلة. ولا يُفسِح نقص الموظفين في مجال الصحة مجالًا للرعاية الطبية في البيت، وأيضًا تحتاج بعض الأمراض دخول المستشفيات. وفي حالات قليلة فقط، يقوم البعض بقطع العلاقات بسبب أعمال العنف التي قام بها الوالدان في فترة الطفولة أو بسبب اختلافات حصلت في مرحلة البلوغ. ممتازة!!

    Hello Alexander, If I am not mistaken, the words in question are spelt مَعروفٌ and مَعروفُ In the first case, it shall mean "the teacher is known here", whereas the second statement refers to a teacher whose name is مَعروف by indicating that "he is here".

    1) The "naa" in the words you have mentioned consists of a long vowel (which explains why it is double a) - أنا، هُنا and the suffix ـنا - notice the alif at the end, which stands for a long vowel. 2) No, the accent/stress is not influenced by the ة. 3) Yes, it is originally written هاذه but semantics opt for omitting the alif for an "aesthetically better" spelling + هذا has two long vowels as you said. 4) You can say أهلا وسهلا without nunation (tanween ً) in dialects, but the nunation is retained in MSA. As for شكرًا, the nunation remains regardless. 5) It is up to them if they shorten it, which is usually done colloquially, but does not change the fact that it is a long vowel. I hope this helps!
