If you’re reading reviews thinking of trying Utsav, just do it. He has been my best Hindi teacher by far from several I’ve tried on italki. He is a qualified linguist with complete mastery of both English and Hindi so he can explain perfectly any questions you have. He is a skilled teacher and can easily adapt your lesson to suit your mood on-the-go. His lessons don’t feel like you’re just reading a textbook, it feels like you’re hanging out with a friend who just happens to know everything you want to learn. Been learning with Utsav for a long time now and will continue to do so. Whatever he is charging it’s worth it, if you choose someone else to save 1-2 dollars per lesson you’re missing out, he is worth it and definitely worth trying.

I really like how Utsav can switch between fun/engaging conversation, cultural/context education, and structured grammatical lessons. Often a teacher will be strong in just one of these 3 elements, but he seems to be able to play each role equally well.

Utsav's style is very supportive, organized and energetic. Thus far the lessons have been mostly oral, as he has been giving me vocabulary and grammatical building blocks to start forming sentences, and begin to understand the various ways gender is expressed in Hindi. I really enjoy the connections he points out between Hindi and other languages, it helps me to remember things, and is interesting to know.

I’ve been studying with Utsav ji since Oct 2023, completing over 100 hours of personalized lessons. He has a remarkable ability to adapt materials to my level and goals—whether preparing for exams, exploring culture through books, music, and food, or engaging in spontaneous conversations and role plays. A passionate, responsible, and deeply knowledgeable linguist, Utsav creates space for exploring language connections, often switching between languages to highlight insightful comparisons. I’m constantly inspired by his expertise and commitment. He also introduced me to the International Phonetic Alphabet, which transformed my understanding of pronunciation. His teaching is thorough, engaging, and always thoughtful. With every session, I feel supported and challenged in the best way. His enthusiasm and depth of knowledge have made a lasting impact on my learning journey. I am grateful for his guidance—he is a true expert and an exceptional teacher.
