Amber Lin

Super kind and personable teacher. I appreciate how helpful she is at providing me with more native ways of expressing myself and typing them out while i'm talking without interrupting me. I like to get carried away when I practice speaking Chinese and she's a great conversation partner. (She's flexible so just explain how you want to learn if you prefer a different way of course.)

CONVERSATION CLASS: Today was my first lesson with Amber. I sought her out due to my former teacher being unavailable to teach anymore. She determined my level and met me where I was at instantly. This was so important to me in finding a new teacher because I didn’t want to feel like I was going backwards in my learning. It wasn’t over simplistic, but it wasn’t too hard either. We spoke in Chinese over 70% of the class. She taught me words to use to merge my sentences together in a natural way and introduced new words I didn’t know. She took the time to listen to what I wanted out of our lessons together and I feel confident going forward that she will be able to get me to that confident intermediate level of speaking. She wrote out some of the things we talked about (so I have like a mini dialogue to reference) and we also did some role play towards the end of class. She provided all class notes and materials after the class. I look forward to our future lessons together. :)

Amber is awesome.

My first lesson with Amber was great! I'm a complete beginner so she had the lesson already structured but was able to adapt it to my learning pace as we went along. She also laid out how future lesson plans could go according to my interests.

Amber is awesome. She really makes me feel comfortable trying to discuss complicated topics in Mandarin!
