Hello! My name is Jivana, and I’m a Portuguese teacher with a degree in Language (Portuguese-French) and Literature. I’m passionate about learning new languages, exploring the world around me, and immersing myself in different cultures. In my free time, I love cooking, reading all kinds of books, and spending quality time with my loved ones and pets. I began teaching in 2015 during my internship at a Canadian bilingual school in Brazil. This experience marked the beginning of many rewarding opportunities in education. I understand how challenging learning a new language can be, and I’m here to support and guide you in reaching your goals. My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual skills, needs, and interests. I strive to make my classes as dynamic and engaging as possible to maintain students’ attention while encouraging them to keep improving and progressing in their target language. I work with online and digitized teaching materials, including PDF files, articles, texts, grammar and vocabulary exercises, songs, and videos. In addition to learning and practicing European Portuguese with me, you’ll also have the opportunity to explore the rich cultures and customs of Portugal and/or Brazil.

Just had my first lessons with Jivana today and I can see why she received as many positive reviews as she did. Her personality is so approachable it's almost as if you've already known her before. It was also clear right from the beginning she's had experience teaching students just by the way she explained everything. Appreciate the lesson today and already have my second lesson booked. Another excellent lesson by Jivana! Always patient, encouraging, and jolly. Very knowledgeable of the language and experienced in teaching. Can't wait for lesson three!
