Hello there! I’m Melissa; born and raised in Arizona. I attended Arizona State University where I studied Business Management and Tourism. There, I was the only Community Assistant for the international dormitory. In this position, I spent much time helping students make a quick and comfortable transition with the English language and American culture.
After graduation, I moved to Seattle, Washington for six years where I worked as a Hotel Manager and a Food Market Tour Guide. Afterwards I lived in Athens, Greece for 2.5 years where I taught English and yoga. Now I live in Wyoming as a Manager at a beautiful hotel!Ja jako nauczyciel
In April 2020 I started studying Greek (having already known a VERY basic list of vocabulary). In December 2021 I arrived in Athens at which point I was able to hitch a taxi, book my Airbnb, meet my host and order food without any English.
After one month in Greece and in continuation with iTalki, my Greek had advanced enough to find an apartment, sign a rental lease, open a bank account and most importantly make some unforgettable relationships.
As a perpetual student I understand the struggles and frustrations of learning a language. As a teacher I use this understanding along with a deep enthusiasm for language to further my students’ language acquisition and development. Moje lekcje & Styl nauczania
I teach as I learn: immersion, repetition and conversation with a focus on my students’ interests. The first goal is getting to a point of communication. Once we reach this point, even at the most basic level, the rest is simply developing vocabulary, grammar and personality. This is the stuff that makes languages so beautiful and unique.
With our classes you will not only improve your English, but you will learn to express yourself! I want you to be able to crack jokes, sing songs, narrate stories and share opinions in English.
