Douglas uses many different sources to challenge not only your understanding of the language you are learning, but also how to begin to think in that language. To form complex opinions and thoughts attached with all of their associated emotions really helps to further entrench your mind into your new language. This week we are studying philosophy in Portuguese and I have MANY thoughts and associated emotions my mind rushes with excitement to communicate them!

Aula excelente. Bem organizada e estruturada. Além disso, Douglas é muito paciente e calmo, o que ajuda o aluno durante o aprendizado. Excellent class. Well organized and structured. In addition, Douglas is very patient and calm, which helps the student during learning.

Douglas is very well prepared for the classes. He always brings materials and has new topics that help me to improve. I like that he is always pointing out my mistakes during the class. This makes me conscious of where I need to pay attention.

I have been studying with Douglas for a long period, he was my Portuguese teacher in the beginning, I love his class and material! I appreciate he can keep me feeling cheerful! Now he is my Portuguese teacher and American English pronunciation teacher too!! My first language is mandarin, second is English, it’s not difficult for me to communicate with American colleagues, BUT because of my accent and wrong pronunciation, sometimes I feel like I was being underestimated！ So I wanna improve it with Douglas, I definitely have some significant improvements, but my brain would forget it from time to time...Very Frustrating!! So the most important thing is consistency!! All you need is keep enjoying your learning, and one mentor who can assist you and guide you in the professional way, so I would recommend Douglas to you, especially if you wanna “reduce your accent “ or “ enjoy your Portuguese training” , HE IS THE ONE. period!

Douglas continues to be a great teacher. He is patient, positive, and encouraging. I look forward to our lessons.

My lessons with Douglas are always productive, interesting and enjoyable. He is very encouraging and supportive and helps me to build sentences and vocabulary when we are discussing topics which interest me but which are beyond my current abilities to express in Portuguese. This makes for memorable lessons. Douglas's lessons also always have a nice mix of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, listening and speaking components. He will pick up on one of my weak points in one of these areas during the lesson and then work on that with me - which is exactly what I want. He also has a great sense of humor!
