Carmen

Great lesson with Carmen! We talked about wisdom teeth being pulled, since it is something we both experienced. I learned a lot of new vocabulary. We also talked about moving our lips when we talk. I am able to understand a lot of what Carmen says and/or writes. Repeating the sentences at the end of class really helps, since pronunciation is so important. Carmen is really helpful and positive!

Great lesson with Carmen! We talked about the end of summer vacation since students are going back to school. Carmen told me about the many things she learned over the summer. It was pretty impressive! Carmen also taught me a funny expression that I liked. I found myself understanding more and more of what she is saying in Cantonese, which is very motivating!

Great lesson with Carmen! We talked about typhoons and about stray animals. Carmen enjoys teaching and has a good sense of humor. Carmen gave me good feedback on my pronunciation that was nice to hear. I think the way Carmen reviews at the end of the lesson really helps my listening and pronunciation!

Great lesson with Carmen! We talked about moving house, and Carmen talked about her cat having some problems recently. We learned a lot of new vocabulary and also talked about fried rice. It was a fun lesson. I like the way Carmen starts with listening skills then finishes with speaking skills, because both skills are very important. Carmen's lessons are effective at helping me improve!

Great lesson with Carmen! We talked a lot about mosquito-borne disease, since that is a problem in Carmen's area at the moment. We talked about various products used to repel mosquitos and techniques to prevent them, like the little "mosquito-eating fish" (食蚊鱼). I learned a lot and it was a fun lesson (as usual) with Carmen!

Great lesson with Carmen! Carmen talked about being sick and her cat also being sick. It was funny to hear her story about trying to feed medicine to her cat. She explained that the natural sentence order in Cantonese is different from the order in Mandarin, which was good to understand. At the end of every lesson, we review the sentences together - which is really helpful!
