My Japanese continues to improve with the help of Tomomi Sensei!

Tomomi Sensei is very helpful.

Before my third Japanese lesson with Tomomi-sensei, I sent her some phrases in English that would be useful for a traveller to learn how to say in Japanese. Tomomi-sensei kindly prepared teaching materials based on these sentences, writing them in English, Japanese and breaking them down to the literal translation also. This provided a structured base for a very fun lesson, in which I repeated each phrase a few times, focussing on pronunciation and rhythm. Tomomi-sensei is extremely encouraging, and creates a relaxed and fun learning situation for an absolute beginner like me. In summary, a wonderful and dedicated teacher!

My second Japanese lesson with Tomomi-sensei was thoroughly enjoyable and fun. She is skilled at making a beginner feel at ease and confident to practise saying words and phrases that are are mixture of familiar and unknown. We revised the hirigana syllables, focusing on pronunciation rather than character recognition, paying extra attention to the sounds that were more challenging for me. We also revised greetings and discussed the literal meanings of some of the words and how they are constructed from smaller units of meaning. This is very helpful to how I learn and I appreciated Tomomi-sensei's sensitivity and patience. We also counted to 10. We had quite a few laughs in the lesson, which added to the enjoyable experience. Tomomi-sensei followed the lesson by sharing resources with me, and we made a plan for what we could cover in our next lessons. I highly recommend this delightful and dedicated teacher!

My first-ever lesson in the Japanese language was with Tomomi-sensei. She was brilliant! She spoke extremely clearly and at the perfect pace for a complete novice like me. We reviewed my short-term goals, and she adapted her lesson plan to fit those. Her learning resources are excellent, and provide a touchstone for my practice in between lessons with this patient and knowlegable teacher. Furthermore, Tomomi-sensei's followup communications have been excellent. I recommend Tomomi-sensei as a brilliant teacher. My next lesson is today - can't wait!
