After finishing over 10 hours of 1-on-1 Chinese tutoring, I can definitely say that Yang Lao Shi is an amazing Chinese teacher. Every class is very structured; he comes well prepared with all the materials (HSK lessons and questions) for the lesson and provides opportunities in class to actively apply the grammar structures you just learned by creating stories or answering questions. Not to mention, everything we say/learn is documented on a google doc so that you can refer back to new vocabulary, which was extremely helpful as I was able to make flashcards out of all the new words I learned. I cannot recommend him enough!

As a 1990s kid who have been away from school for a few years, I couldn’t rate how good he is for day 1 that I just started to talk with him for about 30 min. It’s been almost a week already that I have completed 5 lessons with Mr. Yang . He’s such a well prepared and encouraging tutor for my HSK4 course, therefore, by providing a clear explanations,fixed an errors with my pronunciation, and came up a various topics of role play which could help me to improve my speaking skills. I do like his class a lot and appreciate. I see my improvements and look forward to further lessons.

Leo is a great teacher. He is very patient and knowledgable, and always knows what I want to say when I am struggling to find the words! I would highly recommend him as a teacher

I really enjoyed Leo's lesson. As an advanced learner, he tailored the content to my needs by introducing more complex vocabulary and abstract concepts. Chinese culture is often described as 慢热 (warming up slowly) and so a lot of time is spent on 'smalltalk' at the beginning. I was glad the teacher warmed up quickly and focused on more meaningful topics. Leo was extremely professional and kind, correcting mistakes and offering useful feedback.

Leo Yang is an amazing tutor. He knew exactly where I was in my understanding and met me there which is no overwhelm and no confusion. He is very calm, and always takes his time which with me made it easy to ask for clarifications and questions. How he utilized my own life stories for use as informal talk practice is what stood out most to me, where instead of talking about things I will never use, he taught me in a practicable manner. Relevant! Our lesson was tailored to me and was very motivating and affirming. I would recommend him without a second thought!
