Well to be honest, I used to wanna jump fast to the next level of Chinese by swallowing as many new vocabularies or grammar points as possible, but now I realized that it is not the effective way to help me speak Chinese. Kelly just taught me a certain amount of knowledge in each lesson so that I can absorb well and truly understand the words, how to use and apply it in different contexts. She is patient to practice with me, trying to make me sound like Chinese in every sentence I speak out. Talking so long, today lesson is great! She has strong background knowledge, much experience, a deep understanding of the language, and an unusual ability to explain and communicate her knowledge to the student and bring the student along. This is teaching at a high level for students at all levels.

Kelly is a truly phenomenal teacher. For one, she's very student-centric: she meets me at my level (while still also pushing me out of my comfort zone) and she tailors her lessons to focus on both what I'm interested in and what my goals are. She's also very warm and friendly, and lessons with her seldom feel like *lessons* - they're more like conversations , even if we're going through an HSK textbook. I cannot recommend her as a tutor highly enough.
